CLA has argued that an increase in funding will enable CLA to;
- undertake a lead role in the development and introduction of a National Languages Policy,
- enhance the work of the Academic Forum and
- to continue to improve the support provided to smaller states and territories, by re-establishing state-based community languages associations or helping to strengthen them.
And
- would greatly enhance the overall languages education and multicultural policies of the Commonwealth Government in a very cost -effective way.
- contribute to delivering the Government's objective in ensuring all students study another language in Australian schools as over 110 000 students already study and maintain a language through community language schools.
