NATIONAL COMMUNITY LANGUAGE SCHOOLS DAY 3rd SATURDAY IN MAY EACH YEAR
This year it falls on Saturday, May 18, 2019 ( which happens to be Election Day)
PURPOSE OF NATIONAL COMMUNITY LANGUAGE SCHOOLS DAY
- Promote the work of community language school
- Share our activities with the local community
- Promote the importance of language education
Whilst the Day itself is May 18, 2019 school can work around this date a week before a week later
Some ideas Some suggestions – Encourage schools to :
- Do an article in school newsletters,
- Have a school assembly on the day or nearest date around the 18 May
- Classroom activity on why community language schools are important.
- If classes are held in government or independent school facilities, the school can communicate a message to the principal and school council that we are introducing the concept on National Community Language Schools Day
- Contact your local newspaper and advise of any activities
